GLADIOLUS - dwarf

Sword Lily. These shorter gladioli are smaller and more elegant than their large cousins. They do not require staking and are reasonably hardy in S. Britain. They like a fertile soil in full sun. they will not stand hard frost. Usually about 18" - 24" high with either large flowers or slender spikes. They have strong rich colours flowers. Flowers June to August.They are planted as dormant bulbs in the autumn or spring 4" deep and 3" apart

Award of Garden MeritA beautiful dwarf gladiolus with lovely white flowers each with a green mark on 3 lower petals. Very popular for flower arranging. These gladioli are reasonably hardy in a fertile, well drained soil in full sun. They are small enough to plant in a border, requiring no staking.  They can be planted in the autumn or spring.

BM5483 - GLADIOLUS 'THE BRIDE'

BM5495 - GLADIOLUS COMMUNIS

This is the original species from which the larger and brighter G.byzantinus is derived. Delicate sprays of soft magenta flowers. It increases well by both seed and offsets and is much more suitable for naturalising in grass. At Wisley they follow on from Camassias. Hardy. Autumn planting.

BM5492 - GLADIOLUS NANUS 'PRINCE CLAUS'

A fine dwarf gladiolus with relatively large flowers with pure white petals with red blotches on the lower three. The nanus gladioli are reasonably hardy in a fertile, well drained soil in full sun. They are small enough to plant in a border, requiring no staking.  They can be planted in the autumn or spring.
