A fascinating group of spring flowering bulbs with bell-like flowers. The nodding flowers mostly in shades of green or cream often have interesting purple patterns ( or tesselation)on the petals which gives rise to their name.the tall crown imperial fritillaries have clusters of bold yellow or orangeflowers. Fritillaries flowers from March to May and their height varies from a sem-dwarf 20cm to 1 metre tall( crown imperial fritillary). Suitable for full sun or semi shade and some plants can be naturalised if the soil isn’t too dry. They are planted as dormant bulbs in the autumn, 6" deep and 3" apart for small bulbs or 8" apart for the larger ones. They are summer dormant.
