SCILLA

Plants can be split into early (February) and late (April) flowering varieties. Plants vary in height from 4" to 15" . The short stems are covered in brilliant blue starry flowers.Indispensable as an early spring flowering bulbs for naturalising under trees. One of the best late-flowering species with candle-shaped heads of rich, dark blue flowers.From S Spain. They should be planted with their tops at soil level in a sunny, warm position. Almost evergreen. The genus also inludes the common English bluebell with Purple-blue bells on graceful arching stems above glossy strap-like leaves.

It is one of the earliest of the myriad blue spring bulbs. On its own it is rather insignificant but in a mass is an unforgetable sight. Will grow in grass.

Award of Garden MeritThis is the correct and almost unpronouncable name, for one of the very best early spring flowering bulbs. It coincides with winter aconites and snowdrops. Very long lasting heads of delicate silvery-blue flowers. Although it is slow to increase the individual bulbs are exceptionally long lived - at least 40 years here.

This needs little introduction. The common English bluebell. Purple-blue bells on graceful arching stems above glossy strap-like leaves. Much more delicate than the hybrid variety but it can also be more difficult to establish preferring dry soil under trees. Our bulbs are UK sourced from a friend.

Award of Garden MeritEach bulb produces 3 or more stems of 5 + brilliant blue nodding flowers. very dramatic when massed at the foot of a tree or may be used as an edging for a box hedge or path. They can be baturalised in thin grass and will grow under deciduous trees.
